Title: Events Assistant
Description: International Place of The Claremont Colleges, a shared services office serving The Claremont Colleges, is seeking a student for a semester-long position, who will assist with International Place events.
Job Purpose: The Events Assistant will work with and report to the Program Coordinator to organize and manage the publicity, organization, setup, event management, and break down of International Place events. The Events Assistant will be required to attend important events during the academic year, including, but not limited to, the International Autumn Gala and the International Festival.
Core Duties:
  • Helps distribute printed materials for publicity of International Place events, on and off campus
  • Assists Program Coordinator with space reservation for events and the setup of those events
  • Assists Program Coordinator with catering orders for events
  • Assists Program Coordinator with recruiting student volunteers for the International Autumn Gala (fall semester) and the International Festival (spring semester)
  • Works together with International Place staff and On-Call Event Support to manage events
Qualifications: Education & Experience:

  • Currently a student at one of The Claremont Colleges

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently with or without supervision
  • Strong work ethic & positive attitude
  • Flexible availability throughout the semester
  • Enthusiastic about international student programming
  • Availability on nights and weekends

Desirable:

  • Experience communicating with non-native English speakers
  • Ability to speak another language in addition to English

Licenses & Certifications:

  • CA Driver License (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Will be required to lift moderately heavy items, such as tables and chairs
Work Conditions: Compensation for this position will be hourly and hours will be limited to 8 hours per week or roughly 32 hours per month. This a semester-long position, with the possibility of extension upon semesterly review.
