Community Friends of International Students
This community support group, with more than 300 members, works with I-Place and the International Club to provide many programs and services for international students and their families. Community Friends of International Students (CFIS) supports programs such as the annual Welcome Picnic each August, a Holiday Party each December, the Fall Banquet, and the International Festival in the spring, as well as field trips, programs for spouses and families of international students, and English tutoring for graduate students. I-Place and CFIS is interested in developing programs and activities for the families of international students who are at The Claremont Colleges.
If you are interested in learning more about these programs, or would like to offer suggestions for programs that you would like to see, please complete our Spouse/Family Information Form. If you would like to volunteer and help us help our international students, please see our Volunteer Form. The Board of Directors meets monthly to plan events, establish and evaluate budgets, and work on membership development -- among many other tasks. One of the most important ways CFIS makes a difference in international students' lives is through their dedication to serving as host families for newly arrived international students. Community Friends play a vital role in welcoming students to the United States and helping them adjust to their new lives at The Claremont Colleges. If you're interested in becoming a Community Friend, please contact International Place for more information: 909.607.4571.
