Airport Pick-up: For international and overseas students, I-Place offers an airport pickup service (Ontario Airport is the closest to Claremont, but we can also make arrangements to meet you at Los Angeles International Airport).
Temporary Host-family: If you require lodging while searching for permanent housing or are awaiting residence hall move-in, we can also arrange for a temporary home-stay with a local family for up to 5 nights* Our home-stay families are volunteers in the local community: college faculty, administrators, local business and professional people and some retirees – who all share a deep interest in getting to know you. New International Student Orientation
Before you book your trip to the United States, please make plans to attend our New International Student Orientation, which is tailored to an international perspective. Whether you are a visa student, or hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and have lived abroad, I-Place looks forward to your participation. The aim of these programs is to help introduce you not only to The Claremont Colleges and the City of Claremont, but also to address issues unique to the international and other overseas student experience. Our program includes a day trip, important information and a great chance to meet other international students! Please see your college’s schedule here and let us know you are coming by completing the New Student/Scholar Form.
Become a Claremont Local in a Day is a new feature of our New Student and Scholar Orientation Program (please click for schedule). This day-long program gets new students and scholars off campus to experience the charming city that surrounds The Claremont Colleges. The day will include a scenic walk through the historic Claremont Village, where students will be introduced to local resources that are within walking distance of their campus. After experiencing the city on foot, students will be given a brief introduction to the public transit system serving Claremont and surrounding cities, and will board a local bus to a nearby shopping mall to complete some necessary new arrival purchases.
