Community Friends of International Students (CFIS)

This community support group, with nearly 200 members, works with I-Place to provide many programs and services for international students and their families. Community Friends of International Students (CFIS) supports programs such as the annual International Students Reunion Celebration, a Holiday Party each December, the International Festival in the spring, as well as field trips, programs for spouses and families of international students, and our Conversation Partners program.

The CFIS Board of Directors meets monthly to plan events, create an annual budget, and work on membership development — among many other tasks. One of the most important ways CFIS makes a difference in international students’ lives is through their dedication by serving as host families for some of the newly arrived international students. Community Friends plays a vital role in welcoming students to the United States and helping them adjust to their new lives at The Claremont Colleges.
