New Students

Welcome, New International Students and Scholars!

International Place looks forward to welcoming you to the Claremont international community, starting with New International Student and Scholar Orientation (NISSO).

Please note that due to COVID-19 and changes to Fall 2020, plans for NISSO Fall 2020 are subject to change. We will update this webpage with more information about NISSO as we receive more information from the Colleges. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Information for Your Arrival

Apply for a U.S. Visa
International students who will attend college in the United States will likely need to apply for a student visa at least a few months prior to their arrival to campus. On this page, students will find helpful information to help guide them through the student visa application process.

Online NISSO Fall 2020
New International Student and Scholar Orientation (NISSO) is going online for Fall 2020. While we will not have the opportunity to be together on campus for a few days early like we normally do, International Place will still provide support for international students during their transition to college in the US. This page will be updated with dates and details for upcoming online NISSO events and additional content for incoming international students.

2020-2021 NISSO Leaders
NISSO Leaders are a mix of current international students from Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Pomona, and Scripps who you will soon meet via email and Zoom. Their goals are to welcome you to the international community in Claremont and to ensure that you have the smoothest transition to campus as possible! Visit this page to meet our NISSO Leaders for 2020-2021.
