Saturday, August 24
Optional On & Off Campus Activities (sign ups required)
Students who do not have obligations with their college on Saturday, August 24, will have the opportunity to participate in one or more of the activities below. All activities will be lead by NISSO Leaders. Students who choose an off-campus activity will be responsible for all meals and purchases made away from campus.
Sign ups will be taken at the Closing Celebration on Friday, August 23.

NISSO participants are expected to live in their assigned housing throughout the duration and to be present during activities listed above (unless marked as optional). We advise NISSO participants to avoid making personal appointments between August 22-23.
Move-In Day
All students and scholars attending NISSO are required to move into their assigned housing on Wednesday, August 21, and are expected to stay on campus throughout NISSO. Check-in will take place inside of McKenna Auditorium (located at 390 E 9th Street, Claremont, CA 91711). Students will be able to pick up their keys and welcome tote bag. NISSO Leaders will be available to assist new students with moving in.
International Place representatives and NISSO Leaders will awaiting students’ arrival at LAX and Ontario airports. If you are a student who signed up for our Airport Pickup Service, make sure you have sent your flight itinerary in to International Place via email by July 19.

Sessions
Morning and evening sessions will cover the following themes and more:
- What it means to “maintain immigration status” for students with the F and J visas
- Resources on campus for international students
- Strategies and support for adjusting to life in Claremont and the United Status
- Life at “the 5Cs” as an international student and how to get involved on campus
- Academic success in a U.S. college setting
- Internships and employment for international students in the United Status
Evening Activities & Campus Tours
NISSO participants will have the opportunity to participate in optional activities throughout NISSO, including:
- Claremont Village Walking Tour
- Sports
- Arts & Crafts
- Karaoke
- Movie Night
Parent & Family Participation
All accompanying international parents and families are invited to participate in special programming, including the International Parent & Family Orientation Session on Thursday, August 22. NISSO Leaders
Our NISSO Leaders, which you may have already met via email, are current Claremont Colleges students who are here to support you with everything from moving into your room to adjusting to life on campus. Throughout NISSO, you will spend time with your NISSO group, so that you can start to get to know your group members.
